Attractive, durable and heat sealed

The attractive claret, burgundy coloured Regal Pro melamine placemats are made in the UK and consists of a hardboard centre which allows the mat to stay rigid, a soft cork backed base which protects the surface of your dining table. The whole is then topped off with a heat-sealed melamine surface which can withstand hot plates up to 150ºC.

The main advantage of the durable surface is that it prevents moisture from being absorbed into the tablemat. The top layer of melamine is extremely tough and as well as being food safe it helps prevent the tablemats from becoming scratched or blistering. Normally when the surface of a placemat becomes damaged moisture and water from wine or beer glasses can get under the surface and create unsightly stains and marks.

This type of damage is more likely to occur in the sort of heavy, constant use situations faced by pubs, restaurants or care homes. The melamine contributes greatly to maintaining your placemats and coasters in a presentable state for longer than would be expected with standard tablemats.

The Regal Pro range of melamine placemats and coasters are available in various classic colours, in this case the Claret colour generates a traditional look and feel to your dining room and blends in nicely with a formal style of decoration. This traditional look would be in contrast to other designs of more contemporary placemats from our standard range.

The claret or burgundy shades are enhanced by the triple yellow-gold lines around the inner edge of the placemats, consisting of one thick and two thin lines which highlight the classic feel of the Plymouth Pottery Regal Pro collection.

The rectangular tablemats can be used in a standalone capacity or, if needed, the matching square coasters are a wonderful addition which can hold your wine or water glass.

Size and care instructions

Supplied as unboxed sets of four, the Regal Claret placemats, UK sized at 29.2cm x 21.6cm (11.5” x 8.5”) with a 3.8mm thickness, are not only an attractive and elegant addition to your dining table, but they are also easy to maintain. Any stains or food spills can be wiped away with a damp cloth. The melamine can withstand more vigorous rubbing if needed, but chemicals should be avoided as they could affect the printed colour.

The hardboard centre and the cork-backing mean the tablemats are not suitable for putting in a dishwasher and this should be avoided, along with immersing them in water as the cork would absorb the water and damage the base of the placemat.
