The stylish black coloured Regal Pro melamine placemats are made in the UK with a wooden hardboard centre which keeps the tablemat rigid, the base underneath has a soft corkbacked layer which keeps the surface of your dining table safe. These catering standard placemats are then topped off with a hard melamine surface which is heat sealed and can handle hot plates up to around 150ºC.

The principle advantage of this hard surface is that it stops moisture from being absorbed into the actual tablemat. This upper layer of melamine is food safe and very tough and helps prevent the tablemats from getting scratched or blistering. Usually when the surface of a placemat starts to get damaged then water and moisture spilling from wine or beer glasses can get inside the surface and causes marks and stains and to appear.

The sort of heavy, constant use catering situations faced by pubs, restaurants or care homes is often the cause of this type of damage. Fortunately the melamine helps to keep your placemats and coasters in a first class condition for a much longer period of time than with standard tablemats.

The Regal Black placemats are supplied unboxed as sets of four, UK sized, they measure 29.2cm x 21.6cm (11.5” x 8.5”) and have a 3.8mm thickness. Making them not just an attractive and stylish addition to your dining room, but they are also very simple to maintain. Just wipe away any stains or food spills with a soft damp cloth. The melamine surface is very strong and can survive more vigorous rubbing if needed, but to avoid affecting the printed colour, chemicals should not be used.

The corkbacked base and hardboard centre mean the melamine placemats should not be immersed in water and are also not suitable for placing in a dishwasher, as the cork will absorb the water and damage the underneath of the placemat.
