The heat treated top layer of the hard, glazed surface protects the Harbour View printed art work. Providing the solid and sturdy feel is the pulped wood centre found in each drinks coaster which is 0.5cm thick. The objective is to prevent marks or rings often left by wine glasses and coffee cups from marking the varnish on the surface of your precious furniture.

It is this 5mm thickness that prevents heat from your tea mug from getting through to the surface of your desk or table. This is a particular problem with varnished wooden surfaces because the heat from the mug or cup inevitably ends up leaving a white blemish on the wood which can be difficult to remove. The soft corkbacked underside of each coaster prevents any scratches or scuffs.
